Hope Cowgill | inBalance - San Antonio

inBalance Barre® founder and creator, and fitness and wellness expert in San Antonio, Hope Pedraza fell in love with dance at the age of 3 and has yet to stop moving. Born and raised a Southern girl in Louisiana, Hope Cowgill Pedraza has had a passion for rhythm and movement since she could walk, and danced her way through high school and college before discovering the benefits of Pilates and the mindfulness of yoga. This strengthening and flexibility enhancing exercise appealed to her as a dancer and came as second nature.

After a decade of teaching fitness and earning certifications in fitness and Pilates, including becoming a licensed Fletcher provider, a 500 Hour BASI Comprehensive Pilates, a Certified Personal Trainer through ACSM, a certified Nutrition Coach through NAFC, Hope opened inBalance, a fitness and wellness studio offering yoga, pilates, barre, dance and fitness classes in San Antonio, Texas.

Her goal with inBalance is to help others enjoy the exhilaration of Pilates and dance and the peace-of-mind that true health brings. While running her business in its start up phase with a full time job, Hope eventually “retired” from her day job as a high school teacher and dance team coach. She now devotes her time and energy to her studio, to focus on her true passion and love of health and fitness, share the concepts and techniques of Pilates and her love of movement with other people, to provide a sense of belonging and community, and to educate them on the power of purposeful movement.

Hope is best known for her high energy barre, pilates and dance cardio classes. She developed the inBalance Barre® Certification program to showcase her love and talent for teaching and developing barre and fitness classes, and to propogate a lifestyle that demonstrates a love of movement and prides itself on connecting the mind, body, and spirit for wholeness. She uses this program to motivate and inspire her clients as well as other fitness enthusiasts, to combine dance movements she loves with other methods, like yoga and Pilates, to make these modes of movement accessible to everyone, even non-dancers.

Hope is an Aerobics and Fitness Association (AFFA) and Nation College of Sports Medicine (NASM) Continuing Education Provider, and hosts her studio as an official BASI Teacher Training Studio.

Ashley Ludwick | inBalance - San Antonio

Where were you born and raised?
born in Kansas, raised in Ft.Worth

How did you get started in health and fitness?
I got started on my Yoga journey in January 2000 because I thought "I could exercise sitting down". It didn't take long for me to develop a relationship with the practice and it has enriched my life in more ways than I can count.

What is your favorite class to teach?
My favorite class to teach is the one where students disconnect with the outer world long enough to nourish themselves and rest in a state of steady ease, sthira-sukha.

What do you want every person to get out of your class?
I want yoga students to have a relaxing, stress reducing experience in my class.

When she isn't doing her downward dogs or practicing her asanas, Ashley likes hanging out with her daughter, enjoying fresh salads and, of course, spreading the word of yoga. Oh, and her favourite yoga position is the Ardha Chandrasana (half moon pose).

She feels that fitness can be fun and effective! In her classes everyone gets to focus on key health and skill related fitness components such as cardiovascular endurance, body composition, agility, coordination and balance.

While a serious trainer she understands that the more you enjoy your classes and let the beat take over your body and guide you, the more you burn calories, tone up and look forward to the next class. In the meantime, Lisa looks forward to getting her "Zumba on" with you! So why not come have some fun with her. She guarantees you'll have a blast.

Monica Zapata | inBalance - San Antonio

Where you were you born and raised?
San Antonio, Texas

How did you get started in health and fitness?
After becoming a mom, I was determine to reignite my fitness journey. I tried routine exercise at the gym and other small studios in the area when I was fortunate to find inBalance in June of 2013. This is where I truly learned how to push myself beyond traditional workouts and realized I could challenge my body further and extend this same motivation to others. I began my first Piloxing certification in December 2015, followed by Piloxing Knockout in February 2016, Piloxing Barre in April and inBalance Barre in the fall.

What is your favorite class to teach?
I love all the formats, but my favorite class is Piloxing SSP. It's a full body workout and I love the powerful movements of boxing and Pilates delivered through an intense interval workout. The power of the boxing ignites a good burn and empowerment within myself and my students. The Pilates strengthens our muscles and core balance, add some dance to that and it's a party, which makes it fun and fast paced workout while burning up to 1200 calories in an hour, depending on level of effort. My runner up class is Barre Bounce!

What do you want every person to get out of your class?
I want my students to feel they had a great workout and excited to come back for more. I also want them to realize their full potential and know what their body is capable of doing over time. Most importantly, I want them to feel the support they have from me and others in the studio to help them achieve all of their fitness goals.

NATHAN PILATE

Where were you born and raised?
Born in Yoakum, Texas and raised in Moravia, Texas.

How did you get started in health and fitness?
I got into fitness by being an athlete by myself through college. I was always battling through injuries: tight hamstrings, knees, and rolled ankles, which kept me from being the best I could. I told myself that I wanted to help others in their situation for any goals that they had, if it was coming back from injury, losing weight, or to just becoming healthier.

What is your favorite class to teach?
HIIT or Bootcamp

What do you want every person to get out of your class?
I would want every person in my class to get from my class would be that moving correctly in different planes of motion are important, working the whole body and not just focusing on certain aspects. Have fun while doing so, and learn to always become better.

Rachel Enochs

Where were you born and raised?
San Marcos/Houston TX

How did you get started in health and fitness?
In college, group fitness started out as a stress reliever and hobby for me and eventually morphed into a passion. I worked at UTSA for 5 years in student affairs and career counseling full-time before deciding to stay at home with my two kiddos. I fell "in love" with barre after finding inBalance studio in 2015 and decided to take a leap of faith by pursing fitness instruction which now gives me the flexibility to put my family first.

What is your favorite class to teach?
inBalance Barre

What do you want every person to get out of your class?
A whole lot of fun and a little bit of sweat (OK maybe a lot of sweat too).

How did you get started in health and fitness?
My love for dance, I was the always the choreographer at family functions, and that led me to pursue fitness. I obtained my Zumba certification in 2012. That was followed by a Piloxing Barre certification in 2015 and in early 2016 I became a part of the inBalance team.

What is your favorite class to teach?
What do you want every person to get out of your class? I make it a point to make my classes fun and available to every level of fitness. I focus on helping clients become more in tune with themselves and really getting to know their capabilities.

Alix Jack

Keller, Texas

How did you get started in health and fitness?
I danced from childhood through college, where I studied Kinesiology. I went on to earn my Doctorate in Physical Therapy, so you could say I've been studying movement my whole life! After I became a mom, I looked for ways to incorporate my love of movement into my busy life and found a home at InBalance!

What is your favorite class to teach?
I love all my classes for different reasons! Barre comes most naturally to me because of my background in dance, but I love the balance of strength and flexibility in Pilates and Barefoot Bootcamp is just a good sweat!

What do you want every person to get out of your class?
I would like each person leaving my class to feel that they have gotten a balanced full-body workout, that they have cleared their minds for some time, and that they have gained a some confidence in the process!

How did you get started in health and fitness?
I found fitness when I took on an office job and found that my new sedentary lifestyle was the contributing factor to my recent weight gain. I then followed a successful girl on youtube who helped me develop a passion for pilates and loving your workouts no matter how much they burn! Home videos are great but actually getting out to a class shows a different level of commitment and results, and that is why I chose to change my career to becoming a group fitness instructor.

What is your favorite class to teach?
[Soon to be] Pilates Rhythm and Flow

What do you want every person to get out of your class?
A smile and a good sweat!
